About Angela

In 1997, I started studying Natural Therapies at Nature Care College in Sydney. A pioneering course called “Diploma of Energetic Healing” (Dip E.H.) drew me in quickly. The Diploma introduced me to the study of subtle anatomy. This study included the meridians, chakras and the emotional and psychological links to disturbances/blockages in the body’s systems.

As I completed this Diploma in 2002, I discovered Bowen Therapy. I gained my Diploma of Proficiency in December 2002 with Elaine & Ossie Rentsch. In June 2003 I attended my first Mind Body Bowen (MBB) workshop with Margaret Spicer & Anne Schubert. I was at home. This teaching represented to me, the perfect synergy of my Energetic Healing training with Bowen Therapy. MBB is Margaret & Anne’s beautiful expansion of Tom Bowen’s work.

In the workshop, we explored and experienced the links between the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual as they relate to the holistic nature of Bowen. We learnt how the sensations, as the language of the body, indicate priorities for treatment and causative components. We explored the subtle anatomy of the body, muscle/meridian links. Further we explored the enduring effects of birth trauma, including prenatal and post-birth issues. I resonated so strongly with this approach,  I attended the workshop again in June 2004.

In December 2005 my daughter Bianca was born. I began the journey of putting all this knowledge into practise. It wasn’t until Bianca started school that, I found the time and necessity to put my skills to use. As they say, "necessity is the mother of invention”. Bianca suffered from pneumonia and a recurrence of colds thereafter in her first year of school. I was aware that this was not due to any nutritional deficiency and hence delved deeper.

I got in contact with Anne Schubert and she recommended some books to read that supported the MBB philosophy. I read these with gusto. In this process I came across other resources on  PPN (pre- & peri-natal psychology). With my own daughter as a teacher, I learnt the significance of PPN issues. One of the primary post-natal issues is separation of baby from mother directly after birth, which happened in our case due to a retained placenta. Employing the wisdom gained from the MBB approach, I developed my understanding of helping to shift this trauma, and the life-constricting patterns that can ensue. My work has a strong focus on helping adults and children overcome the effects of trauma. Birth trauma is one of the primary traumas.Other traumas can include illness, injury, hospitalization, surgery, accidents and abuse. I learnt to use the MBB approach to help people gradually titrate such trauma from their nervous systems. It has been wonderful to discover that this can be done in a very gentle but effective way.

At my keen request, 10 years hence, in August 2014, Margaret and Anne presented the MBB workshop at the Sunshine Coast. With the benefit of 10 further years of practical application of this pioneering method, their insights are so valuable. I was delighted to discover my work was on track with what they were currently teaching. In fact, I had a significant personal experience in this workshop which led me into another field of study - intergenerational patterns of trauma. In the last 20 years I have done much self-study in Mindbody medicine, allowing myself to be led where my experiences take me. As most of my clients are aware, my clinic is a space in which I learn as much from my clients as they learn from me.

I feel very privileged to do the work that I do.
